Fire Tires by Artist Gal Weinstein

Artist Gal Weinstein was born in Ramat Gan in 1970 and is currently living in Tel Aviv, Israel. Fire Tires was a recent exhibition in Kunsthaus Baselland that consisted of moulded wax tires and smoke made out of polystyrene foam, pillow filler and graphite dust. Weinstein creates large scale installation work that embodies what is disturbing about the times we live in, times that have often been described as the Oil Age. This work easily translates as a universal symbol that reflects rubber production, cheap fuel, social-political implications as well as environmental devastation.
